Worked = morning + afternoon − other unpaid. Lunch gap is shown for your records.

How it works

  1. Enter clock in and lunch out for the morning block.
  2. Enter lunch in and clock out for the afternoon block.
  3. Add other unpaid minutes only if they are outside the lunch stamps.
  4. Read worked hours as H:MM and decimal, plus unpaid lunch length.

When four punches help

Many paper and badge systems print in / lunch out / lunch in / out as four lines. Adding those stamps into one “break minutes” box works, but it is easy to mistype the lunch window. This page keeps the lunch out and lunch in visible so the unpaid gap matches the card.

Example: in 9:00, lunch out 12:00, lunch in 12:30, out 17:00 → morning 3:00 + afternoon 4:30 = 7:30 (7.50 decimal). The unpaid lunch gap is 0:30.

FAQ

Why enter four punches instead of one break field?

Some workplaces stamp a separate lunch out and lunch in. Four punches mirror that card: morning block (in → lunch out) plus afternoon block (lunch in → out). The unpaid lunch window is the gap between lunch out and lunch in.

What if I take an unpaid break besides lunch?

Use Other unpaid minutes for short unpaid breaks that are not part of the lunch out/in stamps. Those minutes come off after the two worked blocks are added.

Does lunch out/in handle overnight shifts?

Yes. Each pair (in→lunch out and lunch in→out) can cross midnight. The tool adds 24 hours when an end time is earlier than its start within that pair.

How is lunch unpaid time counted?

Unpaid lunch length is lunch-in minus lunch-out (with overnight handling). Worked time is morning plus afternoon, then other unpaid minutes are deducted.

Can I still use a single break field instead?

Yes. The homepage time card calculator uses clock in, clock out, and one unpaid break field if you do not need separate lunch stamps.

Is this a payroll or meal-policy checker?

No. It is a personal hours helper. Meal length rules, premiums, and rounding are set by your employer—confirm against your posted policy.
